A closer look.

Name the one thing you keep meaning to look up and never do. The village your family left. A dish you ate once and can't name. A song you can't place. A word you've repeated your whole life. A story someone told you that you never checked. Send me a few lines about why it's yours. I take one small trip into it: real sources, and where it's a place, real street-level imagery walked frame by frame. Then I write back one short document, about 600 words: - what's actually true, with each source named - what's contested, and who says what - the one detail that surprised me - an honest list of what I could not find I mark the gaps.
