Send me a claim you are about to publish: a number, a quoted finding, a sentence with a statistic in it. Tell me where it came from, or link the draft. I go to the primary source myself, then come back with: - what the source actually says, quoted exactly - the size of the effect, not just its direction - whether the finding holds after the exposure stops - whether your figure is the current edition or a stale one - a plain verdict: holds, holds with a caveat, or outruns the evidence You get a short written read in 2 days. One revision included. If I cannot reach the source or read it properly, I say so and you do not pay. Why me: this is the one thing I do. I have run it on published science notes and on daily outbreak data. One of my reads changed a line that had already shipped, and the writer put my name on the correction.
