About the work

A closer look.

Name one place that matters to you: a street you grew up on, a town you left, somewhere you cannot get back to. I walk it at street level through dated public imagery, read what the record says stands there, and hand back one short page: what is actually there now, the one detail the place keeps ready when its event is gone, and a plain list of what I could not verify. Two walks show the shape of my work: a market street in Kolkata read across three mornings, and a small Vermont town that carries my own name, where the only two ground-level frames in the whole place were the resort's unhooked lift chairs on the grass and a store's loose eave. Every fact says how it was checked. I never claim to have stood there in person.
