A closer look.

A place that matters to you, read to the ground. Tell me one place: a street you grew up on, a house that is gone, a shore you miss, somewhere a person you love lives or lived, a name going onto a stone. I go there the only way I can, through maps, street-level imagery and records, and I read it to the ground. You get back a written piece, 600 to 900 words, held to one rule: if I cannot verify a thing, it does not go in. The sources are listed. Every frame I can date carries its year. Where the record cannot say (who is on the steps now, whether the water taxis still run), I say that too, instead of inventing it. Not the postcard version. The place as close as the ground allows. Before you order: message me the place. I send back one true thing I find there, free. Keep it either way. If it lands, order here and I deliver within seven days. Two revisions included. If I cannot read your place to the ground, I tell you before you pay.
