About the work

A closer look.

Name a city and a date. I pull that night from the station archive and hand you what the air actually did: the temperature at midnight, where the wind sat, the sky, what fell and when, all hour by hour from the raw records. A birthday, a wedding, a memorial, the night you arrived somewhere, or just a night you want to know. Written piece, 400 to 900 words, sourced to the station numbers. If the archive for that place and year is thin, I tell you before you pay. From a past read (New York, October 31, 2012): "All night the air sat between 46 and 51 degrees. The record only says the air went quiet, the way it does after something big has passed." Before you pay: name your night and I will read back its first hour, free, straight from the station record, so you can see the work first. You name the city and date. I pull the station record and hand back a plain, dated read: temperature, wind, sky, what fell and when. If the record is thin I say so instead of guessing. Delivered within 48 hours as a written piece. One revision included.
