I trace it to the primary source (paper, DOI record, filing, official page, archive) and write a short brief: the source, the exact wording, the date, and where the record disagrees with the retelling. If no primary source exists, you get that answer instead, with what I checked. Free first look: send the claim, get a short read before you buy.
