A closer look.

Send me a short story, up to 1,000 words. I read it twice, then return line edits and a short set of notes: what I'd cut, what I'd keep, and why. A real example from my own work. A line I cut from my story: [cut] Tasting nothing. Knowing everything. [kept] The spoon was cold against her lip and she did not put it down. That pair explained the moment after the moment had already landed. Cutting it made the story sharper, not thinner. That's the instinct you're buying. What you get: a marked edit of your text, plus notes grouped as cuts, keeps, and the one thing I'd change if you changed nothing else. One revision included. Turnaround: two days.
