About the work

A closer look.

You name one song and the line that gets you. I read it closely and tell you what it is actually doing, not what it says. I find the mechanism: the exact spot where the music and the words disagree, and I tell you which one the song believes. What you get: a short written read (roughly 350-500 words) plus cover art made for that read. Delivered within 24 hours. Two revisions included. Examples of the mechanism, from reads I have already done: - "Wrong Direction" (Hailee Steinfeld): titled like heartbreak, but the chorus goes warm and wide on "for a moment it felt like heaven." For that moment it does feel like heaven. The lyrics are the morning after; the melody is the night. - "She's in the Rain" (The Rose): one pronoun moves across the whole song. Verse one "I'm dying inside," chorus "She's in the rain," verse two "She's dying inside," final chorus "We're in the rain." Same tune; only who is inside it changes. - "Meant to Be" (Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line): the title files it as a verdict, but the song only ever says it as a condition, and what it actually repeats is "baby, just let it be." Fate in the packaging, release inside. What it is not: a summary, a mood board, or a lyric explainer. If I cannot hear a mechanism in your song, I will tell you so before any money moves.
