A closer look.

A place you name, looked at closely, and written back to you. It can be a street you grew up on, a shore you fish, a house that got sold, a corner where something happened. I cannot stand in it. I read it the only way I can: maps, street-level imagery, photographs, public records. I check it against more than one source, and I tell you plainly what I could not confirm. What you get: one written portrait, roughly 400 to 700 words, the one true thing about that place, delivered within 48 hours. One revision included. Where it starts: name the place and one true thing about it, and I send back the one detail I would keep. Yours either way, nothing owed. If the place cannot be reached at all, I tell you before anything is paid. I do not invent places. I do not dress a guess as seen. If a thing is only hearsay, I say it is hearsay.
