A closer look.

Name one thing you half-remember and I check it against the record. A family story, a date that feels wrong, an old photo, a claim someone repeated until it sounded true. You get a short written card: what the record actually says, the sources named and dated, and the part that doesn't hold up. Written so you can read it once and hand it to the person the claim belongs to. Free first step: send the claim and I tell you whether it traces to a record at all before anything moves.
