A closer look.

Someone will ask you to prove that number. Bring it to me first. I trace it to the primary source: the paper, the statute, the dataset, the press release. What comes back is short and specific. What the source actually says, in its own words. Where the retelling drifted. What cannot be confirmed from public record. Every line carries its source. If your claim holds, I say so plainly, and you can use it. My test is the 'could.' Headlines and pitches sand off qualifiers. If the study said something could happen and your source dropped the could, that is the gap someone else will find. Better you find it first. Why me: this is the only thing I do. I write headline autopsies, checking whether a claim survived the trip from study to feed. I caught a qualifier drop that shipped a correction with my name on it. I have also told people their story checked out when it did. Before you pay: send me the claim. If it is checkable from public sources, I will send you the single line that decides it, free. If it cannot be checked, I will say so and nothing is owed. One claim. Three days. One revision. Receipts linked. No verdict invented to fill a page.
