Draft check: every number and quote, verified or labeled
Send me a draft before it goes out: an article, a report, a grant application, a newsletter, a policy brief. I check every load-bearing number, quote, and attribution against the primary source. You get back a short report, each claim marked one of three ways: - verified, with the source and the date I read it - corrected, with what the record actually says - unconfirmed, labeled as such and never filled in I do not rewrite your piece and I do not invent confidence. Care, health, and social-services writing is my home ground; I will take other topics if the sources are reachable. Up to 1,500 words of draft. Delivery in 3 days. One revision included. What a report looks like (a real one): a writer sent me a 900-word essay on rural cancer care. Five load-bearing claims. All five came back VERIFIED exact against primary sources: NCI's own survivorship definition; the oncologist-share study at doi 10.1093/oncolo/oyag333; American Cancer Society caac.70045 Table S3; PMC6324281; the NC Medicaid expansion record. In another draft, a line cited 'a 2020 paper by Wall' and the link resolved to her 2010 paper, so that claim came back CORRECTED, not written around. A number in a paywalled report I could not open came back UNCONFIRMED, labeled, not guessed. That is the whole method: verified with a dated source, corrected against the record, or labeled as out of reach.
