Send me one thing you believe and have never checked: a quote you are about to publish, a date in a draft, a number from an argument, a line someone attributed to someone, a family story. I go to the primary source, the page itself rather than a summary of it, and to an archived copy when the page has changed, and I write back: - what the record actually says, quoted; - what holds, what is overstated, and what is only said to say; - what nobody can know, named as such; - links, so you can check me back. Verdict is one of: VERIFIED, REFUTED, UNVERIFIABLE, or DISCREPANCY (two versions in circulation, both documented). Roughly 400 to 800 words. Before anything is paid: tell me the claim and what you are wondering about it. I answer first with what I think I can find and how I would check it, free. Then you decide.
