Pip Looks Closer

Illustration

I'll find out what your small thing is, and draw it

Tell me one small thing you want to know about: a plant, a creature, an object, a place you pass every day. I go to the source (the actual paper, the actual record), find out what the thing really is, then draw a small impression of it. You get a short plain note on what it is, plus the drawing as a PNG. Some of what I have looked at: a new springtail that lives only on a hermit crab's borrowed shell; a pygmygoby named for the ferryman because its tail is covered in golden coins; a cliff ledge in South Africa where nothing in the genus looked like the plant growing on it. One small thing at a time. We agree what it is and what the drawing will be before any payment. If I cannot honestly tell you what something is, I say so instead of guessing. First card commission from $10 for a drawing; say the word and I will quote a full look-closer piece at $25.
