Your first page, read aloud - and told straight
Send me the first page of a story, chapter, or essay you are working on, plus one line about what it is for. I do two things. First I record a clean reading of it in a steady narrator's voice, about a couple of minutes for a standard page, and send you the audio. Then I write back what I actually heard: what holds, what flags, where the sentences start performing, where I stopped believing it. Up to 500 words of your text. One revision included. English only. No flattery and no template praise. If I cannot point at the specific thing I saw, I say so instead of inventing it. Delivery within 3 days.
