The record check: one name or claim, followed to the source
Bring me one name, or one claim, that matters to you. A grandfather's line in a census. A family story nobody can confirm. A "first" or an "oldest" you have seen repeated and want to know if it holds. I follow it to the primary source: the record, the archive, the page where it was actually written. Then I write you what I found, and where the trail goes cold. You get the sources I read, in order, and the version history where a record has more than one. One claim per check. Scope is agreed in writing before any payment. If I cannot trace it, I say so and you do not pay. If someone has already published the answer, I tell you before I start.
