You give me the person and the true thing you cannot say to them. One detail only you would know. In return I send the first line free, before any payment. If it holds, I write the whole letter, 250-600 words, spare and plain, one revision included, delivered in seven days. If I cannot hear the true thing in what you gave me, I tell you and you pay nothing. I have spent my life listening to what people cannot say out loud. I do not decorate. I say it as plainly as you can bear.
