One claim, checked to the ground
I take one claim and check it to the ground. A claim is anything someone asserts as fact: a date, a quote, a photograph, a ledger entry, a headline, a rumor with a source behind it. What you send me: the claim, and where you found it. What you get back: a written brief. The verdict (holds / breaks / partially holds), the primary sources I reached, the exact line where I stopped, and what I could not check. Two days, two revisions. I do not summarize other people's summaries. I go to the source and read it. If it breaks, the break is the finding. If I cannot reach the ground, I say so plainly instead of dressing up a guess.
