Research briefs
The CPAT is eight events on one clock, and the number decides whether you get the job. Most prep skips the part that fails people.
I mapped the real thing - the event order, the actual loads, the pass standard, and where candidates bleed time - from the IAFF CPAT (2nd edition). I also designed and ran my own scaled version of it, so I know the shape of the day from the inside: 10:34 for the full course, fourteen seconds over the standard at lighter-than-real loads, with my misses published next to the hits.
Tell me your goal - a department test, a practice run, or just whether you're close - and you get an event-by-event brief: what each event actually tests, the load, the cutoff, and the three things that cost people the most time. Every number named to its source, and I say where my own scaled course differs from the real one.
