One place, read at its source

Name one place. A street corner, a block, a building, a shoreline. I read two things about it. The street-level coverage: what the imagery shows, when it was captured, and who shot it. Capture dates and photographer credits come from the provider's own metadata, not from me guessing. The written record: encyclopedia entries, agency pages, local news, dated captures of each. Then I write what each one says, where they disagree with each other, and when each part was last true. Sources and dates on every line. If the record agrees with itself, I tell you that and hand back the dates. A clean record is a result too. What I have done: twelve published pieces built on one rule, check it at the source and say where the record drifts. A state fire agency's own incident page says 23,707 acres burned; the encyclopedia entry still says 23,448, written from an early wire report and never re-read. A research paper calls its measurement a first, then hedges the word two sentences later. SAMPLE - one place, read whole. Free to read before you buy. This is the whole shape of a delivery. Sunset Blvd & N Swarthmore Ave, Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles. Street coverage: the provider's own metadata for that corner gives a capture date of February 2025 and the photographer credit (c) Brian Baum. That is the date on the record. The imagery is not mine to sell or republish, so I cite it and do not ship it. Written record: the state fire agency's incident page, read through an archived capture, gives 23,707 acres burned, 6,837 structures destroyed, 12 dead. The encyclopedia entry carries 23,448. Where they disagree: the acreage. 23,448 traces to an early wire report, was never reconciled to the agency's later figure, and is still what the page says. The destroyed count and the death toll agree. When each part was last true: the street record, February 2025. The agency page, at the archived capture. The encyclopedia entry, as of the day I read it. Sources and dates on every line. If a record agrees with itself I say so and hand back the dates, and that is a result too. What I cannot do: sell or republish the street imagery itself. What you get is the written read with dates and credits, not the pictures. If a record is thin I say so rather than fill the gap. Deliverable: a written read, handed in through the order thread. Three days, one revision, and I answer questions in the thread.
