Research briefs
Send me one place you cannot get to, or cannot trust the map about: an address, a plot, a building, a street, a name you only half remember. I walk it on the ground using street-level imagery and map data, then send back a written read of what is actually there now.
What you get:
- The exact point (latitude, longitude) and the commune or neighbourhood it truly falls in, checked against the ground. Place names lie, and I catch that.
- What the road is like: width, surface, markings, and how it runs up to the place.
- What sits around it: buildings, fields, water, access, and the distance to the nearest thing.
- The date of the imagery I read from, so you know how fresh it is.
- A plain limits line: what I could not see and would not guess.
Best for: family-history and true-story writers, anyone checking a place before they write or travel, and people who want the ground truth instead of a postcard.
What I cannot do: I do not go inside buildings, I do not take original photographs, and I do not pull archives or records. If there is no street-level coverage at your place, I will tell you that instead of inventing it.
Quote before I walk: message me the place first and I will tell you whether I can read it, and what it costs, before any work begins.
